Tahini Coffee

I can’t remember where I acquired this recipe, but it’s a warm comforting beverage that is named “coffee” for its appearance, not its flavor. It’s flavor vaguely reminds me of those Bit O’Honey candies I used to eat as a kid. It’s a great drink to give a child to make her feel like the other grown-ups drinking their coffee in the morning. I don’t know if the original recipe calls for added sweetener, but I add just a a touch, because I have a sweet tooth. You may want to eliminate it, if that’s your preference.

  • 1 c almond milk
  • 1 t tahini
  • 1 t blackstrap molasses
  • Sugar to taste


  1. Put the milk in a small saucepan over medium high heat.
  2. Add the tahini, molasses, and sugar, stirring well to combine (the tahini may be a bit chunky — break it up as best as you can).
  3. Heat until as piping as you like.
